Yes, this is a 1200-page doorstopper. And yes, it's 'experimental' in writing style. Yes, those 2 facts about it should put you off. I nearly cried when I got the book, thinking it might take me a year to get through it. But it's actually good! I can follow what's happening, unlike every other modernist/post-moderninst/magical realism/experimental book I've attempted in the past. So don't be put off by the size of the volume, it's actually readable.
