This YA read was adventurous and mysterious and so different, though it’s set in a world we know from Tracy’s Crave series.
THOUGHTS đź’
❤️ I enjoyed knowing some of the lore and how things work in this fantasy world, but still being surprised by new beings, a new setting, and (mostly) new characters.
❤️ Calder Academy is the place where the “bad” kids go to school; kids who accidentally set their house on fire with their magic or are a part of the fae mafia. It’s a dog-eat-dog, violent world.
❤️ Our FMC, Clementine, is the headmaster’s child; she’s a “good” girl stuck in a life she’d love to change. Her mother is controlling and her life is full of the drama of a teenager, which includes school bullies, a best friend who ghosted her, and feelings she can’t control.
❤️ The found family in this book is supportive and wonderful. They look out for each other and protect each other the best they can in a dangerous environment.
❤️ This book is certainly not all sunshine and rainbows; there is loss and deceit and mystery and crushing guilt.
❤️ There are some loose ends that will hopefully be resolved in book 2 (or throughout this new series!)
