 It's a tough book to write about. Yet, for all the academic discussion of everything from the Temple of Solomon to Afro-Brazilian syncretism to Hitler’s affection for horoscopes to the Kabbalah, readers are also treated to wonderful scenes of emotional impact and action, to tricky logistics, and to the occasional scene right out of pulp.
