This book is a heartbreaking story of courage, survival, and hope which is nearly impossible to put down. This memoir focuses primarily on his life in North Korea where Sungju goes from being a pampered son in Pyongyang, to an outcast in a poor village, and eventually a street boy fighting to survive with his street gang. Sungju and his 'brothers' never give up even when they are faced with a familial abandonment, starvation, imprisonment, death, among countless other obstacles which seem insurmountable. Their journey on the streets is captivating, heartbreaking, and eye-opening.
