Lord of the Fly Fest by Goldy Moldavsky

I’m gonna hold off on a rating because I don’t know how I feel about this… actually, no, I do now how I feel but I’m not sure where those feelings fall in my rating system.

You see, this book was awful, the characters were awful and maybe that was the point?

I haven’t read Lord of the Flies in YEARS.
And because of this book I discovered the insanity that was Fyre Fest.

Up until the very end I wanted to DNF this and forget this book ever existed, instead I came back to it FIFTEEN TIMES— Thanks Libby for that wonderful information— because I wanted to know what happened.

As a reader I felt very much on the outside of this book, there was nothing making me feel like part of the story or experience. It felt like a running joke that I didn’t understand and when I thought “haha I get it now”, I in fact did not get it.

I generally believe I don’t have a great sense of humor and maybe that is why this book frustrated me so.

The only “joke” I guess I caught on to was that the author maybe believes that influencers are stupid, vapid, selfish, and superficial?
