Beau Eaton is local hometown veteran hero who is struggling with PTSD following a traumatic injury in the line of duty. Bailey is a local bartender and the town pariah - namely due to her family's reputation. Beau is convinced that her last name is not preventing her from being successful in town so he offers her a bet - take his last name and prove him wrong. This arrangement benefits both of them, she gets to separate herself from her toxic family and his family will stop worrying about him. Although this was supposed to be a temporary, pretend engagement, lines are blurred.

This was another unlikely pairing with a character that was only mentioned in passing in previous books. The age gap wasn't the worse but I preferred the age gap with Willa and Cade - Bailey was a tad bit too young and inexperienced. However, I still really enjoyed this book and loved Beau - he was troubled but well intentioned. This was my least favorite pairing in the series but still a great addition.
