Don't Believe It
by Charlie Donlea
The Girl of Sugar Beach is must-see TV show about a fascinating question- Did Grace Sebold murder her boyfriend, Julian, while on a Spring Break vacation, or is she a victim of circumstance and poor police work? Grace has spent the last ten years in a St. Lucian prison, and reaches out to filmmaker Sidney Ryan in a last, desperate attempt to prove her innocence.
First of all, I loved the storytelling format. I didn’t expect the flips between the actual interviews and the reenacted TV episodes, but they made the experience better, and I was hooked! The audiobook production was good, and it made me feel like I actually watched the show.
This time, I couldn’t guess the whodunnit. The plot was solid, and the suspects were great! Charlie Donlea did an amazing job taking me on a tour. As each character was introduced, I was convinced that they’d be the main villain, only to change 5 minutes later when another character came in.
The crescendo into the climax was done really well. I truly felt the height of the suspense towards the end, and by the last page, I had to pick up my jaw from the floor!
