Empire of Sand
by Tasha Suri
I listened to the audiobook version of this after hearing it discussed on the SFF Yeah! podcast. It was slow-moving, but in an expansive and immersive way rather than a boring one. I was thoroughly captivated by the world Suri created and the plight of the protagonist, Mehr, and the slow-burn romance was convincing and sweet. I was concerned about the outcome of this novel for a while, but found the ending quite satisfying. Highly recommend!
