Such an amazing read and incredibly timeless. It really makes you reflect when reading the story of the migrant people, how fear plays a role and hatred. I found that I could apply the over arching themes to many different instances in our current time period and the story is the same. I felt for the people so much, who never wanted something grand, just a home that they could take care of and have it take care of them. The desperation and resilience depicted throughout the novel often brought a tear to my eye. As I went through the novel I definitely could see why this is labelled a “classic,” and I believe everyone should pick it up. I wished we could have had more of a resolution, but even that made it all the more real- because in life there often isn’t the resolution we desire.
