Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

As a MAJOR fan of the movie I wasn't sure what to expect, but the book was so so great!! I'd say the movie was as faithful as you can be with an adaptation, but the book provides so much more color! The narration style is a form of third person omniscient that head-hops flawlessly to allow readers to see the full scene. It really is like a movie but more. You can hear what Nick thinks to himself when seeing Rachel in a dress while also hearing what his mom thinks about that same dress all in one scene---its a very full experience.

I love the added character insight and I was shocked at how well the book manages to help the reader get to know and keep straight so many extended family members, but it is done very well!

The romance is cute though it is a little more open ended in the book than the movie.
