Girls and Their Horses
by Eliza Jane Brazier
As an equestrian, I am always wary of "horse" books, as far too often, they are written by people who know next to nothing about horses. This author does, but...this book isn't actually about horses. Rather, it's about a bunch of extremely unhappy, nasty, bitter, two-dimensional people about whom it's quite difficult to feel anything positive. OK, perhaps two of the characters show a shred of decency but on the whole, I couldn't root for any of these folks. The murder mystery was mildly surprising - not so much who was murdered but how. Overall, though, this was not a fun book. I'd hoped it would be a fun beach-type read, with interesting, fleshed-out characters but sadly, it fell very flat.
