I was disappointed by this book. I read some of Byatt's early work years ago--most memorably Possession, which I loved and read several times. I couldn't get into this one--or maybe just couldn't get it. I feel like I understood the gist but none of the subtleties, of which, I imagine, there are many. If you can get them.
