Usually, slow-burn books irritate the living crap out of me and this book was one of them in every satisfying way possible. While waiting for the romance to build, the fmc goes through a long journey of figuring out her magic and piecing her history together.
In retrospect, the book has no business being over 550 pages long. There were a handful of chapters that perhaps mould a character better but redundant to the overall plot. Plus, all the repeated POVs were making me bored, “I think he’s lovely” “she thinks I’m lovely” OKAY WE GET IT LETS MOVE ON.
And that ending! I didn’t mind that it was predictable but why did he stop worshipping the ground she walked on? If the mmc is so infatuated with the fmc, I highly doubt he’s willing to be the cause of her heartbreak.
I’m still on the fence to read book 2. If its equally this draggy, count me out.
