Almost as spectacular as "The Kite Runner." I say almost simply because few books will ever be as well done as that one. Hosseini is a brilliant story teller and his depiction of the world-wide diaspora of Afghani people and post war Afghanistan is thoroughly engaging. His brilliance is in showing the reader something universal about the human spirit at the same time he educates you on modern world events and the immigrant experience. Even though much of the book deals with loss, there is a sweetness to his telling that lingers long after you finish the last page.
