I'm a bit of a stickler for realism in my contemporary. I'm all good with the instalove happening in these stories and mostly good with how toxic these relationships would be in the real world. That's what I signed up for. Penn and Lulu are great together, I loved the addition of a her being a mom already this time.
But I get really annoyed when a character's tragic past hinges on a legal scenario that would never happen, particularly not when the character has a background in law so it can't be written off as being duped by someone who knows better.
I don't say this to dissuade anyone from reading this, just a fair warning for anyone who is bothered by this sort of plot issue. I really did enjoy the story, I just wish there'd been some fact-checking on something so critical to the plot.
