"I don't think anything was ever said in my family. Silence was the least encrypted method of communication."
reading this book was like looking in a mirror. daas captures toxic SWANA family dynamics so well, while at the same time, she dares to dream of something different. i also love the non-narrative structure, like i was reading someone's scattered diary entries. this is a really powerful debut.
