Becoming Wilde by H.K. Jacobs, H.K. Jacobs

5.0

Becoming Wilde continues from where it left off in Wilde Type, and Alex and Ian’s transcendental love story is as intense as ever!

Warning: This is Book Two in the Alex Wilde series and continues from where Book One left off. There may be spoilers in the review.

Synopsis:
Alex and Ian are together now, but as apart as they are together, physically if not emotionally. With both their workloads significantly increasing, will they be able to balance out their work-life to achieve their dreams together, and of being together?

Review:
An epic story deserves an epic review. And I hope I am doing justice to the writing of [a:HK Jacobs|21824352|HK Jacobs|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png] in my review of Book Two of the Alex Wilde series.

This sequel opens eight months after the events of the first book, and the writing is still as immersive and mesmerizing as it was then. The author captured all my senses with her descriptive writing, where not only Alex’s but my own memories of reading the previous book were brought back in vivid detail.

There are still more adventures that the reader gets to be a part of, and with Alex and Ian together now, it felt all the more special. Especially their first proper trip as a couple.
They stared at one another for a moment-not as elephant and human but as two females who were empowered by strength, wild at heart and free to choose their own destiny.

I know, not quite the quote you were expecting, especially after I started with Ian and Alex as a couple. But what follows this in the book is hilarious and you will be seriously missing out if you don’t read this. Because even in the middle of grief, there is humour and life at the heart of this story.
In her mind, she pictured a Venn diagram. They still existed as two whole individual circles but now with intersecting arcs that created a shared elliptical sliver.

Their epic love story continues as they try to balance their personal and professional lives but that doesn’t mean that their love is lost. Rather, it grows stronger.
Two souls with a bond forged in the elements.

There is so much conflict in the story, at every turn, that there is never a dull moment to be had, be it their relationship causing a ruckus in her work life, or deciding about taking the next step in their relationship. And the way Ian and Alex surprise each other as a couple, with their thoughtful gestures and sexy banter…sigh!

It is evident from the series/each books’ title that this is Alex Wilde’s story. And it is more evident in the way the author makes you feel Alex’s every emotion, like, truly feel it. This will be a heartfelt read for those who have been or are in long-distance relationships. I felt her loneliness, her longing, her grief, her tumultuous thoughts, and her every freaking emotion.

And then there’s Ian. What do I say about this most adorable, kind, sentimental, humane character ever! With his and Alex’s relationship being as globetrotting as it ever is, it gets more dangerous than the previous book in this one.
It’s one thing to know what I want. It’s another thing entirely to ask for it.

I can’t put into words how my sapiosexual soul danced every time Ian and Alex said something intellectually witty to each other. While waiting for them to be together, really together, is the sweetest kind of torture, there is a serious kind of pain as well in this book. The kind where it feels that your heart is being torn apart, even though it is not your life you are reading on these pages.
Badassery took dedication.

And the writing is so badass. From their not so fight-y fights to makeups to jealousies, it’s all so cute and amusing and amazing!

While the story will make you feel deeply, may even make you cry, but the sweet revelations in those sad moments are worth it and so is the happiness which follows.
Consumed by a bright flame until there was nothing left except to begin again.

The occasional descriptions of nature and its wonders stole my breath away. And the journey that Alex undertakes towards the end of the book, I waited with bated breath to finally feel the “truly epic” in their epic love story. And I am glad that despite an epilogue, and a (for now) conclusive ending, there is going to be another book.

I just don’t want Alex and Ian to go away. They are that special to me now. I give this series a million freaking stars.

Thank you to InkSlinger PR for an e-ARC of the book.
