Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

5.0

A magnificent book by a brilliant author. I absolutely LOVED this book! Before I go into the reasons why here is my brief synopsis of the book.

In Sicily, twins Vittoria and Emilia live in hiding from who they truly are, witches. Due to living a quiet and normal life, the stories of “The Wicked” preached by their grandmother seemed like fairy tales or urban legends. Not reality. Until chaos and turmoil hit the soil and what seemed like unbelievable stories, became real.

Local witches are brutally murdered, including Vittoria while the "Wicked Brothers” start to reveal themselves. Emilia is determined no matter what it takes to avenge her sister's death. She had no idea the challenges that she would have to face romantically, emotionally and physically. All that affected her morals and normal standards. Ending in a very grueling but important decision.

All characters in this book were detailed and easy to follow. Emilia’s strength and determination radiated throughout the chapters as she learned to grow into the strong woman and witch she is. Wrath is another wonderfully written character who I immediately fell in love with and wanted more from. I felt the crimes committed and mysterious events were well thought out and written.

“Kingdom of the Wicked” is part one of a three-part series. I read this as an e-book through a local library app and fell in love with the characters immediately. The story ends on a cliffhanger so I HAD to search for book 2. I was placed on a waiting list to “borrow” it. I couldn’t have that. I have to know what happens next! Amazon to my rescue, I ordered the trilogy in hardcover and will be reading the other 2 in sequential order.
