This was a quick read that in the end for me was just okay. More dystopian than anything. It was incredibly immersive in the beginning — story had a strong start and fascinating premise (the whole Lord of the Flies meets Love Island) but fell flat for me as it went on, feel like I just kept waiting for something more to happen. Even the points of conflict, nothing as big as I thought ever came of them…. Though in fairness, kept me engaged enough to keep flying through the book waiting for a big twist or development.
An epilogue (or a few chapters) with more closure or exploration of the outside world would’ve rounded it out for me, though I understand that maybe could’ve felt like opening a whole new can of worms. But all the mentions of the outside world (the war) were so preeent throughout, I thought we might learn more somewhere along the way.
Moderate: Infidelity, Injury/Injury detail
