It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

5.0

I'm going to say it right here, right now
COLLEEN HOOVER IS AN AMAZING AUTHOR.
I started this book like 3 hours ago and I was hooked from the start.
TW: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, ABUSE

Lily is the usual 23-year-old college graduate who wants to open a flower shop. So basically her abusive father passes away, and she is asked to give a eulogy at his funeral. Girly here, freezes up on stage when asked to speak about the best things about her abusive father. She goes up to a rooftop and is just standing on the ledge (she's not suicidal) and meets a guy, a neurosurgeon to be exact. The guy is Ryle Kincaid a.k.a the love interest.
Basically, they have a night together, ok more like 30 mins, but still and never meet for 6 months until Lily here, decides to open up her flower shop. She "hires" Alyssa (I love her) who shockingly is related to the love interest. They meet up, get together, hook up and get married.

Now, this is where the actual story begins,
So Lily here has a first love, a guy that she still loves, named Atlas. He comes from an abusive background and is basically kicked out by his parents, so he's homeless. The two become friends and fall in love. Till Atlas moves away to Boston to live with his uncle. They still meet and Lily's father beats him up when he finds them in bed together. Atlas joins the military and that is the end of their story, for now.
SpoilerSPOILERS
Flash forward 7 years, and Lily is at home with Ryle. The two make out and then it goes cuckoo. Ryle, being the idiot he is, grabs a burning hot casserole straight from the oven without mitts. He burns his hand and Lily starts laughing, and in his anger pushes her. So he cuts his hand and Lily has a cut on her head.
The next day, she's at a dinner with mum and jerkface. She meets Atlas, yes that Atlas, who owns the damn restaurant. so they talk and well the rest is history.

TW FOR THE NEXT PART- R*PE AND ABUSE

They get married, Ryle discovers her diaries and almost rapes her.
She runs away, has neurojerk's kid, divorces him and lives with Atlas.

What I'd like to point out are the author's writing skills.
Take these for instance,

“I love it when the sky makes me feel insignificant.
I like tonight.
Well . . . let me rephrase this so that it more appropriately reflects my feelings in past tense.
I liked tonight.”

“ “Most plants do need a lot of care to survive. But some things, like trees, are strong enough to do it by just relying on themselves and nobody else.”

I- these are those types of statements that just hit you in that spot. I love her.

Go for it if you want a crazy ride. I mean this was the second book I've ever read written by Colleen, and I loved it.
