Baptism of Fire
by Andrzej Sapkowski
It is clunky, but damn if Dean wasn’t right about it being pretty fun. Join Geralt of Rivia, monster slayer for hire, as he and his merry band of comrades: Dandelion the bard, Milva the badass pregnant archer (damn you Sapkowski for making the first of age person that can conceive be pregnant, you tropey SOB), a bunch of fun dwarves like Zoltan Chivay, a savvy vampire barber-surgeon, and a guy you hate with a cool hat, on a cool road trip through the sights and sounds of the Continent! Visit lovely ransacked villages, and stinking underbrush! Make a campfire with your buddies and talk for literally hours about if vampires CAN drink human blood, WILL they? And also be prepared for some pretty length asides about the creation of the Lodge and bisexual queen Cirilla being taken advantage of and falling in love with her one true love: gruesome murder.
You know, the one really truly fun thing about these books is that no matter what happens, I do recognize my Gwent cards just a little better with each one I read. ;)
