Witch King by Martha Wells
5.0
Loved it. One of the best things about being a librarian is getting to read new books by favorite authors before anyone can spoil them, and I was on a Martha Wells fantasy kick anyway (reread The Wizard Hunters last week, listening to Fall of the Necromancer on audio when I stitch). Anyway! This was great. I really enjoyed the characters and am always down for complex political machinations as the reason for the plot, the dual timelines mostly managed to be very clear and distinct, the writing was excellent, and I’m hoping the unresolved threads — especially one rather large one — mean more to come in this world, but I’m also thoroughly content with the ending as is. Fully expect to be thrown into a new and unfamiliar world and magic system with no exposition, buckle in, and enjoy!
