This was very hit or miss, but in the end, I felt the positive outweighed the negative.
I liked the depictions of abuse, trauma bonding, and bipolar disorder were portrayed very well.
I don’t much care for the journal-type writing style I think it made the pacing choppy in some areas.
I did very much love the characters and how they fell in love. I liked that they weren’t all copy/pastes of each other and they all coped with their trauma differently.

~ spoilers from this point on ~

I felt that the climax of the story (sneaking into his office to find information and then later on killing him) was pretty low stakes (no pun intended). It happened very quickly and fairly easily. Although there were many events happening that should’ve made for a tense moment, it was resolved so quickly that the intensity never had a chance to build up.

I did enjoy it though and I think I’ll pick up more books from this author.
