Dammit. I wanted to like this one too. I loved Nothing to See Here. But this lost me around page 170. Once they added a ten year old to the road trip, I couldn’t quite get there. I finished it but I’m not happy about it. It wasn’t heartwarming. It was definitely dysfunctional. And just sad. I can handle sad as long as there’s someone slightly humorous or ridiculous to it. But this was just a man that ran away from families he created as his kids try to track him down. He didn’t even seem sorry. There was no penance. No attempts to right wrongs. Just come along, blow up your life, take this road trip and come back to…nothing different. Meh.
