4 stars because this book made me laugh out loud *way* too many times to deserve anything lower.
This was a very goofy, charming tale about what we all wish we could've done as kids, find a way to smuggle our pets into class with us. The scenes where their boy seems to really cheer up due to their presence just made my heart ache so bad in the best way possible. Really enjoyed the characters and the narrative, though it did stretch thin a bit here and there - and at the end of every other chapter, I kept wondering, so what about that project he's supposed to finish? When is that due exactly?
There's some really cute illustrations on most pages as well, which can make the reading feel very fun/rewarding for kids :) very cute book, would recommend for some laughs.
