David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants
by Malcolm Gladwell
Good—but not my favorite Gladwell book. One of the things I didn’t like was while he was explaining the battle between David and Goliath, he made a lot of presumptions yet stated them as stone cold facts.
Since he backs all his arguments up with data and has tons of conviction, it’s easy for people to take every point he makes as absolute truth. Though I freely concede the point that Gladwell has far more education and experience than me in the topics he covers in his books, I still believe it’s a mistake not to run new ideas through the filter of one’s individual knowledge and experiences before accepting an opinion as truth.
