I'll admit I bought this Tor.com short story because the cover alone successfully caught my eye. That it deals with psions as the main subject matter was even better, because they're one of my favorites within the urban fantasy menu. The ghastly shark that served as the predator was an interesting way to tie the mystery together, though I do wonder what made this particular shark become a ghost when it was implied to be so unusual. Particularly when sharks are, in reality, a bit like dumb dogs (and I say this as a dog lover - not all dogs are smart). I'm not sure it would've had the intelligence to even grapple with the afterlife. So, bit of a theoretical hole in the fabric of the story with a brain that functions on Point A to Point B cause-effect, but I'd still like to see more of this setting if it's an option.
