I’ve never written an extensive and well thought out review before… But I believe this book really warrants that to do it justice.
I have never heard of this book or this author before, and decided to read it, simply because it was on Kindle unlimited, and it was relatively short. I was not expecting to find a book as captivating and heart wrenching as this.
This book is in a mental institution and does tackle some pretty heavy topics within this book. I think mental health is so beautifully captured and not once was I made to feel uncomfortable about the way this was discussed. It was thought provoking and gave me such an insight into different mental illnesses and the perception of these.
The family in this book was absolutely insane, and I felt such strong attachments to many of the characters. I love the character, dynamics and friendships, but also the romance was really sweet.
I will say, the reason this book did not get five stars. In my opinion, it dropped in its intensity during the middle and therefore I got a little bit bored. BUT when I say the ending made up for that, I am not lying. The last 25% of this book was crazy.!!! I was hooked and literally could not put it down. In the mystery and crime subplot made this book so much more enjoyable.
Please make sure you have your tissues ready, because when I say I bought like a baby!!!! Definitely an author I am wanting to read more by.
