This book has a low star rating here, but I knew from the title Ahdieh was not going to be pulling punches in this final installment of The Beautiful Quartet...
Holy s*** things have gotten WILD since our first introduction to Sebastian St Germain and Celine Rousseau. And the ending is perhaps not what one is used to seeing in YA Fantasy. There's resolution. There's extreme stuff. But I can see where perhaps the fandom feels let down/betrayed??/ by the author's choices - but to that I also say, one shouldn't write their books in service of the fans!! The conclusion to this series is somber. It's a tragedy, as many stories with vampires and werewolves and humans are.
The one thing that was a bit odd to me was that originally the books were presented as 1 & 2 being Celine's duology and 3 & 4 being Pippa's, and while The Ruined does combine and tie up the loose ends, it is Celine and Bastian's story again. I do think you can read just books 1 & 2 and be content.
But let the title guide you on how this story is going to go.... for everyone.
