Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune

emotional funny lighthearted

3.0

The younger non-jaded me would’ve devoured it. The older and jaded me enjoyed it. Sure the whole ‘meet me here after a year’ thing is as far removed from reality as can be but the author made me want to believe in it. Which isn’t an easy task (did I mention that I’m old and jaded).

This book has two timelines (then and now) in every chapter and diary entries by three protagonist’s mother. The diary entries felt indulgent and unnecessary to me. I was expecting it to add something significant to the story but it didn’t.

The two timelines are interesting and tug at your heart strings.
