I have not been this obsessed with a book since I was a kid.

I fell in love with the characters from the very first page and couldn't wait to go on a journey with both Elyria—the tough, badass fae filled with an uncontrollable darkness—and Cedric—the noble and obedient knight fighting for the future of his people.

I get so tired of seeing the same two-dimensional characters, the same linear plot, the same cliche fantasy world, and that was what I feared this story would end up being. But thank the stars, I was wrong!!!

Gretchen draws us in with the promise of magic and romance and winged faeries, and then hits us with:
- A complex political climate and history
- Warring races with differing ideologies both fighting for a better life
- Action, action, action!!!
- Romance...?
- Sweet justice!
- Sad... More sad... PURE GRIEF! DX
- ACTION AGAIN!!!!!
- Betrayal and rage and GRETCHEN WHY?!
- And repeat.

Seriously, what an absolute whirlwind. I couldn't keep track of my own emotions as I got swept up in the story, and I LOVED IT.

Seriously, this is the freaking best thing I've read in such a long time and it deserves so much love from readers of both the fantasy and romance genres.

I can promise: if you came for the romance, you won't be disappointed. If you came for the plot, you won't be disappointed. If you came for both... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, BUY IT NOW (or on March 11 when it releases 😭)!!!

I personally will be pre-ordering the hardcover as SOON as it becomes available. Seriously, do yourself a favour and don't miss this.

Fall in love with Elyria and Cedric, and
ENTER.
THE.
CRUCIBLE.
