Is it possible to feel like you received a big, warm hug from a book? That's how I felt during and after reading this book.
I related to Charlie so much. Some days, you want to rip the imperfection(s) off your body. But you can't, and the only solution is to find a way to accept it, which is extremely difficult when you live and are best friends with someone constantly reminding you of them. When Charlie finally stood up for herself, she took her power back. She learned to love her body the way it is. In return, those she loved learned to do the same.
The romance between Charlie and Brian was so sweet! I was smiling at every single interaction. Brian always made her feel beautiful and the center of his attention. Even though this book is more than just a romance, it's one of my favorite book couples.
This is the first time I've read the topic of fatphobia from the perspective of a young adult. It needs to be promoted more because young girls in this era are experiencing what Charlie went through. Many generations will benefit from reading this.
