This book was pure joy
From talking hilarious elevators.
Glowly trains underwater.
Flying carpets & star dust
Children with supernatural powers
New friendships & brotherly love.
We encounter the powerful and resilient Amari Peters.

Amari is the girl from the projects that people assume will end up a statistic. But she is smart and goes to a private school where she endures microaggression and intense sense of not belonging because the color of brown skin.

Through all this hardship, she still keeps hope alive that her brother, Quinton is okay. Even though he's been missing for 6 months.

The glimpse of sibling love is heart warming.

I enjoy the topics discussed in this book about belonging, friendship, responsibilities/power, identity, acceptance, and standing up to bullies. The author does great job incorporating topics.
