This was an interesting one! I loved the historical setting and the romance. Rua and Finn's banter with each other was fun, and I was willing to overlook their instant attraction since it made sense for the story. While I liked Rua's defiant personality, her characterization felt off at times, and she made a lot of stupid decisions, which annoyed me. Also, I wish the mythology had been focused on and explained in more depth. Additionally, I thought the ending was very abrupt and really needed an epilogue. Still, I thought this was a decent debut novel!
Graphic: Death, Misogyny, Sexism, Violence
Moderate: Emotional abuse
Minor: Body shaming, Sexual assault, Forced institutionalization, Blood, Fire/Fire injury, War, Classism
