Self insert and sympathy digging by King, for a miserable abusive selfpity weakminded male, who only goes after people that are weaker then him, you see he never once fights the males in power, he just thinks bad about them, be he is a cowerd if there is any. The kid is not realistic, he would be afraid of the male that snaped his arm, and he clearly would want his mother as far away of this killer as possible. It shows that king grow up without a father good or bad. He lacks empathy, becouse it is all about Jack, extremly selfcentert male.
That is why King hates the movie, the movie does not care about the excuses, Jack is a abuser from the beginning, it was never the hotel.
The rassism and misogany is a staple of King, so it is her as on the nose as like in all of his early work.
Wendy has only thoughts about being about her mother, her son, her men. The misogany. A woman has more thoughts, a woman is a human not an extension of other people. That is the worst Part of the novel, he lacks humanity and can not give his wife a full personality outside his wants and needs, all she thinks has to be about him, his son and her mother. (is he resenring his mother? The one who stayed in his life, he clearly gloryfies father/son relationships - becouse he had non with his)
He never once thought about the feelings, wants or needs of his wife and kid. His thoughts evolve only about himself. That is the Real horror. He only thinks she hates him and will leave him to self pity himself not as shit i am an ass i sould do better, i should go to Therapy. He says i am sorry, becouse he is sorry for himself, a real man. No acountablility at all.
