Great book but I realized I might not be the biggest McCarthy person. The violence in this book is just emotionally exhausting. That being said, that’s exactly what he was trying to capture with the scalpers.  The judge was one of the most heinous characters I’ve ever read. He’s a racist, pedophile, murder, and child killer. The end of this book mirroring the empty crypt resurrection from the Bible is very interesting. Instead of salvation, the only person you see is the judge “he dances in light and in shadow and he is a great favorite… dancing, dancing. He says that he will never die”. The way McCarthy portrays violence is disturbing but that’s what it’s meant to be.
