The Wild Truth: A Memoir
by Carine McCandless
challenging
dark
emotional
reflective
sad
slow-paced
This would have held my interest better as a magazine article. I came away with a lot of sympathy for the group of siblings, but feeling as if none of them really understood their brother much better than the rest of the world. I could not care less about the author’s personal romantic history, which ended up being half the content. Perhaps it would have been better to separate this into two shorter books: one about the true life story of Chris McCandless, and one about that of his sister.
