Guenon serves as an exceptional writer, and one full of intellectual fervor. His writings are bold and clear, and do not serve to coax the reader through complex philosophical polemics, but as an expression of an anxiety that he feels to be ever present in every individual who is brought to question things the way he intends to make them question.

But given this isn't a philosophical polemic, and therefore does not contain the rigor of one. It begins with presuppositions, presuppositions which are often addressed far too inadequately for my liking. As well as what I would perceive as a lack of semantic clarity - which might be a result of the translation I am currently reading.

Overall, it serves as a very insightful critique of the Western "spirit", with interesting insights on the Oriental Boogeyman that frightens so many even in the modern world, as if the historically hegemonic West has been reduced to nothing. With much more to spare. An interesting and short read.
