This is the only volume I've read and likely will read. I think the original issues came out about 3 years ago and I recall seeing them in the comic shop and feeling struck by the lovely covers and art. A couple months ago we found this volume at the used book store and picked it up on a whim.

It's readable without having read the other volumes but there are hints at things that happened previously that I had no idea about. I haven't read any regular Batman titles in awhile so I'm not sure how much more "detective" this is than the others, but his investigation skills are obviously a focus. This is a plus for me as I think this is a characteristic that often gets overlooked in some versions of him.

I read this just after reading Ms. Marvel so it was painfully obvious how much more cohesive Ms. Marvel is, in a way mirroring the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC movies in terms of quality. This was a quick read and I bought it used, so little of my time and money were spent on this. It didn't convince me to read more Batman titles but I appreciated his detective-ness and the art was nice for so much crime and violence.
