I’m a little torn on the rating because Heir of Fire was so slow to me compared to the speed of Crown of Midnight. Celaena went through really necessary character development, which had your heart hurting and hoping for her. She’s grappling with not only Nehemia’s recent death, but the past deaths of her family and Sam. It all comes to a head as she returns to the home of her Fae court and has to train with Rowan. Who wow, I hated at first and took almost the whole book to warm up to him after he told his story. I thought the introduction of Manon and the witches was super interesting. I really liked her chapters more than I expected. My heart yearned for both Dorian and Chaol in this book. I’m not sure how Celaena and Chaol could ever move forward after everything they went through. Also curious how Aedion will play into the series.  The last 150 pages had me sweating! It was also interesting how this book had little to no romance, especially for Celaena. But the story is rich and intriguing so I almost didn’t notice. Wasn’t quite a 5 star read for me because of it feeling slower.
