The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
3.0

This book went on forever.
I read “The Chronicles of Narnia” when I was younger and I liked it well enough. However, I was reading a forum looking for book recommendations and I saw some people trashing C.S. Lewis. They said he was too heavy handed with his Christian message (they said he just retold bible stories with talking animals) and that he wasn’t a good writer.
I guess I missed all that the first time because after rereading the books as an adult, I agree that they are flawed. Some of the books are little more than a long winded ramble (“The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” for example.) Most of the Chronicles were enjoyable enough though, although the sexism and racism was a distraction. The stories also need a better editor. C.S. Lewis described people’s faces as pale so often it started to piss me off.
In his book, girls are weak and women who are trying to take power are evil. Aslan pretty much told the children he was Jesus.
I dunno, I’m just glad it’s over. On to the next book!
