Interview With a Lemming by James Thurber

3.0

A flash fiction from Thurber in which a scientist meets a lemming who is able to converse with him. “You human beings are aways astonished…when any other animal can do anything you can.” The lemming is quite verbose and details all the ways that humans are horrible, and then we get to the end and the punch line—because flash fictions tend to have punch lines—and it’s a darkly comic one. Like most flash, you can’t fault it too much because you didn’t invest that heavily into it, and Thurber is good at humor, even of the gallows kind.
