4.0

3.5 rounded up. The main drawback of a biomythology is that the true parts often make a mess of the storytelling. In this story of families moving north in the great migration, the focus is pretty heavy on the difficult parts, understandably - but so few moments of joy or even tolerable existence feels punishing. The many individual voices don’t stand out from each other quite enough.

If you like intergenerational stories, this might be a good one for you.
