American Gods by Neil Gaiman

5.0

This book was long. It was difficult to motivate myself to read past the first few chapters of the book, but once I did I was immersed in a fictional world that was at once the plane we exist on and at the same time a whole world apart. Neil Gaiman took mythology that I had periphery knowledge of and moved it to the forefront of my mind. I grew to care for the main character, and admired his calm assessment of a chaotic story line. I didn’t expect any of the twists to happen, and was led blindly on an adventure like none I’ve ever read before. This was one of the most creative stories I’ve ever read and I expect it to haunt me for the next few weeks.
