Ego Is the Enemy
by Ryan Holiday
In focusing on Ego the author brought to focus the timeless lesson that characters throughout history have fallen or risen above; Ego. Ego is the enemy has brought to focus for me a lesson I have been seeking to self teach myself but this book has certainly helped bring to focus. That lesson being, live for yourself for your own satisfaction (whatever that may be) and avoid the pitfalls of seeking a life to impress or gain praise from others. Living for the sake of satisfying Ego, while consciously or not, is a junk -food way to live; sweet and nice at first but regrettable and fruitless in the long term. I plan on returning to this book to freshen my views on how to stay sweeping.
Only critique is that the examples the author uses throughout the book are of those who are high achievers. What of those who are content with less yet also seek to rid themselves of the trap of ego?
