Spells and Sensibility by K.S. Murphy, K.L. Noone

3.0

Too much inner dialogue for me. I do think a rambling inner dialogue can be done right (see “The Nobleman’s guide to scandal and shipwrecks”) but it has to be done with intent. If I’m reading pages upon pages of blocked text, I want to be learning something about the character in that time. Unfortunately in this book it was just repetitive. The same character just kept repeating the same thing over and over and over.
Overall, I think the concept for this book was good and the characters were definitely interesting, but the writing needs some refining. Kill your darlings as I they say.
