House of Curses picks up right where House of Shadows left off, and we are submerged in this high fantasy world of dragon riders and the divisive culture Kerrigan finds herself. Our hero Ford is off trying to break the curse that has been placed on the firstborn of his line, and Kerrigan has been left to miss him and navigate all the subterfuge and secrets (those that she knows about and those she doesn't). Deal with March, that has decided she has to marry him. Learn to manage her burgeoning powers. Try to take down the Red Masks, and all while she's been nominated for the Council, which she must campaign for. There is much going on, and KA Linde weaves it together, drawing you deeper and deeper into this world. You learn to care for all the characters you should and despise the evil ones. You want to scream at Kerrigan to WATCH OUT! Then almost feel like covering your eyes as Kerrigan has to fight for her life (which is hard to do when reading a book
