Up until the final 100 pages, I honestly wasn't sure how I'd rate this book. I had trouble feeling as immersed in the story as I have with other Sanderson books. I felt there were moments with too much description, and I felt overwhelmed when trying to visualize whatever was happening. However, this issue does not overshine the rest of this book, which by the end, was just too incredible to not rate 5/5 stars.

The character work in particular is second to none. Especially Kaladin. What a moving and courageous story he has. The incorporation of flashbacks is an excellent choice here. I really appreciated how Sanderson was so character focused, yet simultaneously told an epic and vast narrative. I also felt like Stormlight has a much larger scope compared to other stories in the Cosmere, which was a nice change. The amount of lore and history behind Roshar is really engaging and even mysterious in some aspects.

The magic system is just really, really cool. All around, the action was awesome in this book. There were several moments where my jaw dropped and I audibly reacted to what was happening on the page. Particularly within the final 100 pages, which provided the perfect conclusion.

Overall, this was an incredible book. Any criticism or issue that I have is immediately overshadowed by every other extraordinary aspect of this book. Please read stories from Brandon Sanderson. They're some of the best across all media.
