"We left because it would've cost too much to fix the world. Cheaper to build a new one."

This story is actually a thought provoking one. It contains a deep message if you are able to decipher it.

A story from the far future, some of the people from our race, who consider themselves to be superior, arrogant and intelligent, have established a new limited world, many light years away from this solar system. But they are still in need of their previous planet TELLUS/EARTH, for something that's really essential for them.
They expect this planet to be in wreck, but things turn out to be totally different.

This short story made me think, made me question about our goals, our ambitions, our priorities... Nowadays all of us are only focused on earning money, on living lavishly, and all of our selfishness is costing lives of many and at the same time is making the Earth pay for us even though we are well aware of the hazards and complications rising because of our representatives' decisions.
In many parts all you see is selfishness, the need to pay bills, the race to be superior than the other, to look more attractive than the other person, and the list goes on.

What I am trying to say is that we are consuming all of our resources at such a dangerous level, that even though we want to reduce the consumption, we are caught in this vicious cycle that we can't escape. Politics, development, economic growth, nutrition, stable life, life insurance, etc.
Don't these things make you question that aren't we all still trapped? Still trying to sort out things, trying to find a way out of this mess? But even though you try to find an answer you won't think as a society, as a group, but you would think as an individual.
That's the problem, we all are focused on living a good life, a paradise, with or without our close ones. We are becoming more and more vile and selfish with each passing day.

So what are we doing?
Where are we headed?
Does this earth need us?
Or do we need it?
What we are doing with each other, is it right?
The wars? The famine? The poverty?
It just makes me question...
What are we as a human?
Who are we as Homo sapiens?
