xilks 's review for:

The Walking Dead Book 4 by Robert Kirkman
3.0

I liked that there was more conflict in this one. The books are still more interesting to me than the show. The more that i read of the books, the less inclined I am to go back to watching more of the show.

Spoilers warning

The reveal of that crazy guy coming back was not really a surprise. Some of the build up and reveals are not that dramatic and the reader can see them coming. I was, however, very happy that Lori finally died. I couldn't stand her and had no remorse for her or her baby. Though, I was somewhat disappointed that the baby wasn't born a zombie. That would have been a plot twist. Secondly, when that crazy guy kissed that little girl zombie, how were those infection germs not transferred? Yeah, they bite, but that's just to introduce the disease/virus/whatever, but he open mouth kissed a zombie child, that's inviting the germs in willingly. How was he not changed? Secondly, if infection isn't passed through that sort of contact, why can't they eat the zombies or something that was bitten by a zombie--like that deer in the beginning? I would like if the author laid out the rules for this infection passing a little more because it seems like there are holes in the plot. It might be further explained later, or maybe the crazy guy was changing but didn't have the chance before he died. But that isn't really outlined and it wasn't hinted at either, so... I'm not sure what to think here.
